The Benefits of
Using a Hydrogen Generator

Through a hydrogen generator, a vehicle may be able to benefit from increased engine performance and increased gas mileage.

The use of a hydrogen generator to boost car or truck performance is also called such terms as “hydrogen boosting technology”, “hydrogen additive technology”, and “hydrogen injection.” This technology works by using electricity produced by a car to electrolyze a certain amount of water. Basically, this type of generator uses an ion exchange membrane to create pure hydrogen. Through the electrolytic dissociation process, water is broken down into oxygen and hydrogen gases.

Subsequently, oxygen is released into the air while the hydrogen gas is retained. Some hydrogen injection technologies require that the electrolyzed water be injected into the intake system of a vehicle. The injected gases will replace the fossil fuels stored in the cylinders resulting to more efficient burning of gasoline or diesel. This will also eliminate or minimize the pollutants that will be released through the tailpipe. Some hydrogen generating devices have a long-life desiccant cartridge that enables these devices to further purify the hydrogen gas into a more desirable purity grade.

There are various types of hydrogen generating devices available in the market. Some of these devices are especially designed and manufactured to create hydrogen for vehicles. These devices are the ones pertained to in the previous paragraph. Hydrogen generating devices for cars, also called as hydrogen-on-demand systems, are capable of producing needed hydrogen that will be run through an internal combustion engine or fuel cell. These systems produce and retain hydrogen while disposing off and eliminating all other chemical compounds. Other hydrogen generating devices are designed to function as a fueling station.

This fueling station type of hydrogen devices are designed to address the hydrogen supply needs of petroleum refineries and companies belonging to the electronics, metals processing, and glass manufacturing industries. Another variety of hydrogen generating devices are those that are designed to produce ultra high purity hydrogen often used in research and medical applications. To produce hydrogen gas with high level of purity, deionized or distilled water is used.

Meanwhile, other types of hydrogen devices are used to produce electricity. These devices are often used as an emergency or temporary source of power. These are also very useful, especially when one has to work or go to a remote location where electrical supply is not stable. Large industrial hydrogen cells are also promoted for use of businesses for their back-up power systems.

Aside from the obvious benefits that can be gained from the use of hydrogen generating devices, the latter is also seen and widely-considered as a viable solution to the worsening global warming experienced worldwide. Hydrogen generating devices in vehicles are proven to be very effective in minimizing emissions that release air pollutants. Moreover, it is no longer costly to have one’s own hydrogen generating device as it used to be. These devices are also easy to maintain so their longevity could be maximized. And if the environmental benefits of using these hydrogen generating devices are not enough, use of these will also allow consumers and businesses to enjoy some special tax breaks.
